The HYP Impact Committee is looking for volunteers to help with set-up for the Save the Sternberg Benefit Auction the day before the event. The event will be both indoors and outdoors and will require a lot of tables and chairs and other site prep. Set-up may not take the whole time until 6:30 PM as it will depend on how many people will be there helping.
Although the fundraiser has already passed the $1 million dollar mark to rescind the December close date, the event will continue as Sternberg works to reach the $2 million goal for the Schmidt Foundation match. All proceeds from the auction with go to the Save Sternberg fundraiser at the FHSU Foundation. Please visit their website for more information on the fund here: foundation.fhsu.edu/save-sternberg.
They are also looking for auction donations. If you or your business would like to contribute any items, experiences, artwork, etc., please have those to the museum by November 15.
The Save the Sternberg Benefit Auction will take place the day following the set-up on Friday, November 20 at the Ellis County Historical Society, 100 W 7th. Doors will open at 6:30 PM, with the live auction at 7:30 PM and live music to follow. It is being hosted by the Kansas Barbed Wire Musuem, Rush Co. Historical Society, and Ellis County Historical Society. No museum collections will be sold. The Sternberg Gun Display will be open to the public in the Stone Church, as well as the Felten Stone Gallery. Appetizers will be served along with a cash bar. Admission is by donation only.
