The Farm Credit System is a unique entity, a network of nationally connected, locally owned financial cooperatives. Since 1916, Farm Credit has been devoted to agricultural financing and is the largest single provider of agricultural credit in the United States. High Plains Farm Credit is a member of the Farm Credit System and services over $2.0+ billion loan assets. High Plains Farm Credit’s vision is to be the preferred source of agricultural financing. High Plains Farm Credit also serves as the administrator of the Farm Credit Capital Group, a consortium of 17 Farm Credit System entities ($25BN+ in combined assets) which focuses on investing in senior secured bank debt issued by large corporate borrowers across the agriculture, food/beverage, energy infrastructure, and telecommunications sectors. 
 
POSITION PURPOSE
High Plains Farm Credit is currently recruiting a Chief Credit Officer (CCO) to manage the credit function of the Association by developing and implementing credit policies, managing the Association’s portfolio, and serving on Executive and Management Committees. In addition, the Chief Credit Officer will direct new participation loan relationships and manage credit information flow for the purchased and sold participation portfolio.
 
JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develops, implements, updates, and maintains credit policies, procedures, and underwriting standards.
  • Ensures the Association is in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures adequate controls, loan structures, and loan servicing requirements are in place for the Association.
  • Manages and monitors the Association’s loan portfolio.
  • Presents essential credit portfolio and credit administration information to the Board.
  • Selects, develops, and leads the credit and lending staff, including holding staff meetings and credit training activities.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field required; Graduate degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in credit administration, lending, finance or other related field, 5 years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Expert knowledge in credit extension, credit administration, portfolio management procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of credit risk management, accounting, finance, and agricultural finance.
