Summary: The City of Hays Parks Department is seeking a dedicated and reliable Golf Course Maintenance Worker. This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks essential to the upkeep and aesthetic appeal of the municipal golf course. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and be available for a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays during peak seasons.

Responsibilities:

  • Fertilizing, Chemical Applications, Grass Seeding, Landscaping, & Irrigation: Execute tasks related to turf health, including the application of fertilizers and chemicals, grass seeding, general landscaping duties, and maintenance of irrigation systems.

  • Manual Labor & General Maintenance Duties: Perform various manual labor tasks and general maintenance duties as required to maintain the golf course property.

  • Equipment Operations & Minor Construction Projects: Operate various types of equipment used in golf course maintenance and assist with minor construction projects.

  • All Aspects of Ground Keeping Duties: Responsible for all general ground-keeping duties to ensure the golf course is well-maintained and visually appealing.

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • CDL Requirement: Ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of employment.

  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and overtime, especially during the growing months of the golf season.

  • Experience (Preferred): Experience with turf management, irrigation systems, and the ability to operate a wide variety of golf course maintenance equipment is preferred.

  • Physical Demands: Must be able to handle working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
