Job Summary: The City of Hays Water Resources Department is seeking a dedicated and reliable Maintenance Worker to join our essential team. This vital role involves performing general maintenance duties, operating equipment, and ensuring the efficient functioning and integrity of the city's water and sewer systems. The successful candidate will play a direct role in maintaining public health and safety by responding to after-hours issues and maintaining critical infrastructure. Responsibilities:

Perform general maintenance duties for water and sewer infrastructure.

Read meters and operate various equipment necessary for system maintenance.

Respond to after-hour calls for water and sewer issues, demonstrating adaptability and commitment.

Actively maintain water and sewer lines, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.

Work effectively in confined spaces and trenches when required.

Perform duties outdoors in all types of weather conditions.

Essential Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Possess the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of employment. The City provides support for this professional development.

Demonstrated ability to respond to after-hour calls and work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces, trenches, and all types of weather.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Friday: 8:00 AM - Noon

Compensation & Benefits: The City of Hays offers a highly competitive compensation package. The starting pay ranges from $17.87 to $26.54 per hour, with initial placement based on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package is valued at over $17,000 per year and includes:
